Annette Caldwell's Obituary
Annette Marie LeRoy was born in Natchitoches, LA on March 4, 1918 to Vernon and Ida LeRoy. She was the second of two children.
Annette joined church at an early age and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She received her formal education at Central High School in Natchitoches, LA where she later married Boykin Caldwell in 1936. Born to this union was her only child, Willie Jean Caldwell. Boykin moved his family to Los Angeles in 1940 for better opportunities. He worked as a waiter for the railroad and later as a merchant seaman. During the 1950's, Annette began to work for the Mellinger family as a house keeper and Nana to Suzan and David Mellinger until her retirement in 1990. After retirement, she joined the South Park Senior Club and enjoyed traveling, needlework, crossword puzzles, family gatherings and other activities. In 2007 when her health started to fail, Annette moved to Westchester Villa assisted living facility and from there moved to Marina Care Center until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her brother Whitfiled LeRoy in 1987 and her husband, Boykin Caldwell in 1965.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mrs. Willie Jean Ross of Los Angeles, California, grandson, Mr. Clarence Ross Jr. of Los Angeles, Californai, great granddaughter, Ms. Kelli Ross of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Suzan Goldstein and her sons of Boca Raton, Florida, Mr. David Mellinger and family of Calabasas, California and a host of relatives and friends.
