Dorothy Chapple's Obituary
Dorothy Mae Chapple was born July 28, I 934, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late O.D. Kinchen and Vashti (White) Kinchen. To this union two daughters and one son was born, Eura Dell and Dorothy. Their brother preceded her in death. She attended primary school and graduated from Yates High School in Houston, Texas. She also attended one year at Texas Southern. She accepted Christ at an early age in Houston.
In 1954, Dorothy relocated to Los Angeles, California. She later continued her education at California State University Dominguez Hills where she received her B.S. and Masters De gree.
Dorothy worked for GTE for 40 plus years. She retired from GTE as a manager. In 1973 she united with Macedonia Baptist Church (Los Angeles), under the Late Dr. Floyd Mas sey. Dorothy was a faithful member for forty years serving pastors, members and guest. She did so up until she became too ill to attend church. She worked diligently as a Deacon, servicing the sick and shut in with many cards and words of encouragement; Pulpit Guild, the right hand to the pastor, ensuring all supplies for the pulpit were ready every Sunday; also supporting the pastor on church outings. Dorothy served on the Trustee Board, Mis sions Department, Drama Guild and the Texas Club. She was also a faithful member of Sunday School. "Dependable" was her middle name. Her word was her bond.
Dorothy was involved in many outside activities. She volunteered her services with the Travelers Aide Society for over twenty years. Servicing the people of Los Angeles County . She also gave financial and time contributions to many other organizations.
Dorothy loved to travel and was a "Worldwide Traveler". She traveled all over the world. From 1984 when the Olympics was in Los Angeles, California to 2012 in London, England, Dorothy only missed one Summer Olympics. Dorothy loved the theater and was a season ticket holder at the Ahmason Theater.
Hats! Hats! Hats! and gloves. That was Dorothy. She was known for the beautiful hats that she worn EVERY Sunday, always dressed from head to toe.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2013, God dispatched His heavenly angels to carry her home to eternal rest. She lived a beautiful life with God by her side.
