Elizabeth Meeks' Obituary
Elizabeth "Red" Meeks was born on October 3, 1932 in Tchula, Mississippi to Druther and Maeliza Johnson who preceded her in death.
In 1954, she moved to California with her late husband John Henry Meeks Sr. She found Christ at an early age with Greater New Bethel Baptist church. She loved to sing and was the lead singer of the church choir.
Mrs. Meeks was the best host she had a great personality and would entertain with family and friends for birthdays and holidays. Everyday was a celebration and she was always the life of the party. Her bright smile would light up the room and she loved to take pictures. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, dancing, singing, card playing, and occasional bus trips to the state line. Elizabeth was always there for her family especially her children and grandchildren. She loved them unconditionally and would do whatever she could if they needed her.
Mrs. Meeks always had a great sense of humor and you would never know what she might say. She was easy going, a gentle soul who was straight forward and strong when she needed to be. Kind to all the people she met, unless she was rubbed the wrong way then she was cussing you out! You can always count on driving by Mrs. Meeks house and see her leaning on the screen door looking outside.
On November 10, 2022 the Lord called Elizabeth home. Her life and legacy will live on through her 10 beautiful children John (Ellen) Meeks, Dora Meeks, Henry (Claudette) Meeks, Wesley Meeks, Carl Meeks, Elizabeth Meeks, Donell Meeks, Calvin Meeks, Denise Meeks and Patricia Ann Meeks a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
