Mr Melvin Williams Sr's Obituary
Melvin Williams Sr., son of John Banks and Annie Lee Williams, was born April 30, 1942 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the 7th child of 14 brothers and sisters and was baptsized at an early age. Melvin Sr. completed his education in the Jackson public school system. He married his childhood friend Annie M. Course in 1963 after their families relocated from Jackson, Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois. They would spend 56 years together. To this union they bore 5 children, 4 sons, Melvin Jr, who preceded him in death, Troy, Michael, Tyrone Marvin, and 1 daughter Melva. (Melvin Sr. always wanted that daughter). While in Chicago Melvin Sr. took up culinary arts and became a chef at Michael Reese Hospital. In 1969 the Williams family relocated to Los Angeles, California where he became a Brickmason with the International Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union No. 4. He recently received a plaque and a Gold pin for 51 years of service.Melvin Williams Sr. learned a host of skills and crafts from his father, uncles, and older brother in the early years of his life. Not only was he a great Brickmason, he was an exceptional carpenter, electrician, plumber, framer, landscaper, roofer, and concrete finishe. He was also a sportsman. He loved to hunt, trained his own bird dogs, fish,ride motorcycles and horses. He raised livestock and had numerous animals such as horses, cows, goats, pigs, ferrets, rabbits, geese, a monkey, and various others. Melvin Sr. loved the rodeo and often participated in main events. Tie down roping was one of his favorite rodeo activities. Above all Melvin Williams Sr. was a Black Cowboy who loved his family! He would often call his children and grandchildren just to say, “YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU.” He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of his services. He leaves to celebrate his life, a devoted wife, Annie; 3 sons; Troy, Michael and Tyrone Marvin, 1 daughter, Melva, 1 brother, Lawrence, 2 sisters Rebecca and his baby sister Essie, 19 grandchildren: Myeshia, Monica, Torri, Tranika, Troy Jr., Michael Jr., Taj, Aúbri, Kalil, Zuri, Meya, Tyra, Samantha, Khloe, Katalaya, Matthew, Marcus, Malik and Erika. 8 great grandchildren, Malayah, Jaleon, Bryson, Mya, Brian Jr. Byrin, Zyaire and Autumn. Daughter-in-laws: Lenora, Gale, Danielle, Tracy, Mary, Brenda, and son-in-law Eric as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

You left us with an empty void in our hearts that can never be filled. But you also left us withthe tools of your many talents and many memories from the good times we shared with you..
