Sister Sonya was always a delight to do ministry with- whether it was singing in the chapter choir or doing one of Ezel’s plays, she always lit up the room and brought a brightness of spirit with her. She will definitely be missed and her impact felt.

Sonja was one of a kind, true child of God. I have known her for more than 30 years and she was always the same. She was classy, multitalented, beautiful, kind, had a wonderful smile and humble. I praise God that she was in my life and that I was in her life. I thank God for all the years she helped my with my productions without complaining. Everything I asked her to do she did and did it well. I remember one Thanksgiving we were at county children's facility and the youth were acting up. I ask Sonja to start singing and she said she needed I mike, I told her no. I loved her natural voice. She started singing "Soon I will done with the Trouble of the World" and all the children settled down. Once I asked her to play Lena Horne in a Black History production, see the attached picture. She did so well, some of the young people wanted her autograph after the show. I simply loved and adored Sonja. Thanks to all her children for sharing her with some many.
