Willie Dennis' Obituary
Willie Jewel Dennis was born November 21, 1937 to William Taft Henry and Jewel Allen Henry (Big Jewel). She had two brothers and was the "baby" of the family.
Willie Jewel was born in Wixahachie, TX and came to Los Angeles at the age of 8. Willie Jewel accepted Christ at a young age. She attended Willowbook Junior High School, and graduated from Jordan High School in Watts, CA. Everyone who knew Willie Jewel called her "Jewel", and what a Precious Jewel she was.
She worked at a Cab Stand and Wide Awake Roofing throughout her younger years, and retired from the Department of Social Services- Fraud Department after 10 years. She was also the proud owner of Thee Shop Thrift Store which was later renamed Jewel's Thrift Boutique in her honor.
Jewel enjoyed reading books. She would read tow or three books a week. She loved to dance and won, many, many dance contests. She was also a whiz at Bid Whist and a aChampion at Dominoes.
Jewel re-dedicated her life to the Lord under the pastorate of Perry Spencer, Sr. and became a member of First Christian Church of Lynwood.
Jewel was a very compassionate and caring person. Everyone who met her instantly felt her warm personality. Once you met her, you were always welcomed in her home.
Jewel. Mama or Ganny will be missed by all. She leaves behind to hr memory, one daughter--Rhonda Tayler (Abe), three sons--Steven Itson, Barron dennis (Tanika), Darren Dennis ("Daphney"), eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, other relatives and friends, too numerous to count.
